And where exactly ARE the folds, you might ask? Look closely at the long scarf! :-)
I did the sketch for this little illustration a while back, as an idea for a Christmas card. I came across it the other day and finally finished it for this week's theme. The colors didn't translate very well, though -- sometimes I have a really hard time with my scanner. It's hit or miss!
Last weekend I attended the Illustrator's Day 2009 Conference, sponsored by the SCBWI-PA. It was a great experience, and I got to meet Carli Moua in person! I met a lot of really good illustrators with different styles and techniques, and got some good feedback on my work. I'm planning on attending more of these events this year, they are a great way to learn and network.
Very charming and they look like buddies too!

What a great illustration - I have "a fight" with my scanner sometimes as well. The colors just don't seem to get right in the scan. Didn't find the solution yet.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine it was a great experience to attend such a Illustrator's Day - too bad there is nothing like that here.
Will you share your results (illustrations) of that day with us?
This poor pup is doomed to have this kitty take over this scarf. My cat does this to everything I have so I can relate. poor pup hee hee hee hee! What a great illustration. You always know who to create and capture a moment. YOU ROCK!!!

ReplyDeleteI love it... Somehow I think Miss Kitty will want to stay all cozy on that soft scarf. Her canine friend may have trouble unfolding it all. Beautifully painted.
