Flowers in containers? Okay, I'll admit it: not enough time this week to do a new illustration, so I needed to be creative with a previous one. :-)

Whenever I use old illustrations, I feel this urge to do them over again, to fix the mistakes and improve them. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Sempre que uso ilustrações antigas, tenho essa vontade de refazê-las, de consertar os erros e melhorá-las. Você também passa por isso?

It's that time of the year, when one makes plans for the new year. Well, my resolution for 2009 is to show my artwork and hopefully get some illustration work for children's magazines. So, I'm going to work on my portfolio and learn more about how to promote my artwork. Sounds good, right?! :-)

É aquela época do ano, quando fazemos planos para o novo ano. Bem, decidi me esforçar mais para divulgar as minhas ilustrações e talvez conseguir trabalho ilustrando revistas infantis. Então vou trabalhar no meu portfolio, e aprender mais sobre auto-promoção. Boa idéia, não é?! :-)

Sugar cookies, anyone? I think they may come out rather sugary, but at least she's having fun making them. :-)
Some line work this time, but I may add some watercolor later when I have more time.

Alguém quer biscoitos de açucar? Acho que vão sair bem açucarados, mas pelo menos ela está se divertindo com o preparo. :-)
Só linha dessa vez, mas espero poder acrescentar cor mais tarde quando tiver mais tempo.

"I love you all year round" Book Celebration

The very talented Alicia Padrón sponsored this wonderful celebration for her recent published book, "I love you all year round."  In order to participate you had to send her a note,  a photograph, or an illustration answering the question: Who or what do you love all year round? A winner would be randomly selected to win a signed copy of her beautiful pop-up book.

I couldn't resist and entered with this illustration, showing something I love to do all year around: hugging my dog!  And guess what? I was selected as the winner (you just have to see how it was done!)

Anyway, I can't wait to get my signed copy! And by they way, have you hugged your pet lately? :-)

Illustration Friday | Detach

Ooops... that wasn't supposed to happen! Luckily, there's a doll hospital just around the corner.

Ooopa... isso não era para ter acontecido! Ainda bem, tem um Hospital de Bonecas logo lá na esquina.

"Enough" Finished

Here's the finished painting for "Enough." This time no ink, only watercolor and pencil. Thanks to everyone who left a comment on the post below, when this illustration was still halfway done.  I'm not 100% pleased with it, I have to say, but it's part of the learning process after all.
My family is visiting me from Brazil (Yeeyy!) so I haven't been able to participate in IF this week, but I hope to come back soon.

Aqui está a pintura "Enough" terminada. Desta vez não usei nanquim, somente aquarela e lápis. Obrigada a todos que deixaram comentários no post abaixo, quando a ilustração ainda estava semi-pronta.  Tenho que admitir que não fiquei 100% satisfeita com o resultado, mas afinal faz parte do aprendizado.
Minha família está me visitando do Brasil (Oooobaaa!) então não tenho tido tempo de participar do IF nesta semana, mas espero voltar logo.

Illustration Friday | Enough

Well, my idea was to say one can never have enough books, but it seems I won't have enough time to finish this illustration on time. :-)
Anyway, I thought you might enjoy a look at the partially finished piece. I'm thinking of using just watercolor and pencil on this one, we'll see. I'll post the finished illustration once I get it done!

Bem, minha idéia era dizer que não é possível ter livros suficientes, mas parece que eu não vou ter tempo suficiente para terminar esta ilustração. :-)
Ainda assim, achei que gostariam de vê-la. Estou pensando em usar somente aquarela e lápis, vamos ver. Colocarei a ilustração final quando terminá-la!
