No time! | Sem tempo!

I haven't been posting lately -- I've been busy at work and I've been preparing for Illustrator's Day 2009, sponsored by the SCBWI-PA in Philadelphia. I registered late for this event, then took my (wonderful!) two weeks vacation in Brazil in May, and now I'm trying to get the assignments done. This illo is one of them, for the nursery rhyme "Good night, sleep tight."

Not sure if this happens to you, but whenever I work on an illustration for a long time, I start having issues with it. It's a bit annoying! :-)

  4. Good luck at illustrators day! I like this picture although it makes me want to take a nap =). And yes, whenever I paint something for too long I definately start to have issues with it. I think it's a natural part of being an artist.

  5. I know what you mean: when you've looked too much to your own work - you start to have doubts. That's for me the signal to put it away, set it on a easel and look at it everytime I walk by. After a few times I know what is wrong or just come to the conclusion that the drawing/painting is finished.

I always have to watch out not to stay working at it: I tend to work too detailled and then "destroying" the work.

I love this illustration and it really fits with the nursery rhyme. And I hope you have a great day at Illustrations Day - it sounds great to participate! Hope you show some on your blog.
